**What you'll do**:
**In this role, you will**:
- Use and practice standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete new product development and/or cost reduction projects such as (but not limited) FMEA, GD&T, stacks ups, SPC, APQP, DOE, problem solving, etc.
- Works under Company's operational standards and priorities for safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory
- Understands customer requirements and market trends to identify new opportunities and develop new product design concepts,
- Select the materials to be use on the new product fabrication, keeps project timing commitment
- Coordinates with plant production teams to create manufacturing process and quality controls for prototype builds required for customer evaluations and product verification testing.
- Develops test lab requirements and the validation plans as well as executes the test sequences to verify and validate designs and processes that will assure the new product performance vs requirements and regulations, stablish reliability targets
- Capable to work on a multidisciplinary team to select materials and manufacturing processes for new products with in cost targets and project budget
- Supervise and provide direction and training to engineering team members.
**Qualifications**:
**Required Qualifications**:
- Mechanical or electrical engineering bachelor degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of seven (5) years of experience in product development of electric/mechanical assemblies in a rigorous engineering environment
- Knowledge in the design of components with varied manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, machining, etc.)
- Experience on fuel card sensors, thick film print over ceramic is a plus
- Experience working within quality management systems and product development process
- Experience on product validation laboratories procedures,
- Knowledge of electrical circuit protection products, electrical distribution systems, and applicable industry standards is desirable
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively motivate team members that are not direct reports.
- Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, 3D CAD modeling tools (SolidWorks), SAP and Minitab
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Experience working with automotive customers and products
- Experience and knowledge of automotive design processes and APQP design principles.
- Experience in testing techniques. Knowledge of power test equipment and measurement instrumentation is highly.
- Knowledge of electrical circuit protection products, electrical distribution systems, and applicable industry standards.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
