As a Sr R&D Engineer, you will help steer the direction of strategic corporate technology by focusing on solving industrial problems through reliable research work. Working as a researcher in R&D projects, you will solve applied research and technology problems and develop ways to more effectively solve them. In this role, you will communicate your results in reports and other publications, while following and contributing to scientific discussions in your area.
**Your responsibilities**:
- Solve complex industrial problems, with an ability to guide junior team members.
- Maintains expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Stays abreast of the current and planned R&D activities and oversee development tasks.
- Contribute innovative and creative ideas to various complex R&D assignments.
- Finds new ways of solving problems creating hypotheses and defining ways to validate them.
- Identifies opportunities and proposes R&D activities accordingly.
- Acts as project leader or senior project member.
- Leads specific product quality improvements and follows the results.
- Represents their team in relevant forums, internal and external to ABB, and makes comprehensive presentations.
- Documents work results.
- Writes well-structured and concise technical reports and/or scientific publications, for internal and external audiences.
- Shares best practices related to technical documentation with junior team member.
**Your background**:
- Bachelor´s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering.
- 5-7 years of experience working in similar position.
- Knowledge of Electrical Design of distribution systems.
- Experience in electrical LV products (MCC, Switchgear) preferred.
- Knowledge of 3d design software as Creo or SolidWorks.
- Windchill experience preferred.
- Eplan or AutoCAD Electrical.
- 3D Mechanical design and PLM experience.
- Availability to travel (15%).
- Advanced level of English.
