Position Summary: The Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for performing supplier-related activities surrounding supplier assessment, APQP, problem solving, process and component developments for outsourced productive material, in order to achieve new launches and resources flawlessly, ensuring the support and fulfillment of the requirements of internal and external customers, all while adhering to global quality objectives and corporate standards.
Position Responsibilities: Supports and complies with established Company's Corporate Principles and goals.Understand and comply with Quality requirements such as automotive requirements.Supplier assessment through VDA6.3 for new supplier approval process and HPDC technical questionnaires, supporting the Corporate SDE function.Provide technical expertise related to Casting Commodities HPDC in support of supplier readiness activities, such as technological feasibility studies, evaluation of suppliers, discussion, and definition of criteria for the approved supplier list.Provide technical expertise related to specific commodities in support of supplier audits, problem solving/escalation, and VA/VE projects.Lead supplier program launches for new suppliers or new components using established ZF APQP process, Supplier Readiness activities in the preparation and execution.Interpret prints and measurement tools (MSA and GD&T).Use core quality tools along with problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques in support of continuous improvement methodology, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions promoting lessons learned process.Lead Supplier development program for continuous improvement of strategic suppliers, based on the Six Sigma methodology and principles.Perform activities in coordination with other departments, effectively respond and communicate in a timely manner, developing and maintaining productive working relationships.Support in cross-functional working groups and assist in the conclusion of activities.Initiate, complete and ensure proper conformity of engineering changes to quality standards, under development phase in the supplier readiness process.Trigger additional escalation levels as needed in order to protect internal and external customers, leading escalation level 2 for serial and new components.Work on other duties and special projects as it relates to the position.Supplier Quality Performance monitoring, new developments, and serial phase.Specific Responsibilities: Support in the activity of supplier management through the achievement of all ZF specified deliverables related to product quality.Assist in the management and maintenance of external supplier KPI's relevant to product quality and durability.Ensure conformance to all ZF specifications and standards applying proper APQP and PPAP methodologies according to ZF, AIAG, VDA, and IATF standards to Direct Suppliers and Sub-Suppliers.Effectively develop the supplier using core quality tools as it relates to Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, and Control Charts.Effectively lead and participate in all activities related to customer and internal complaints during Supplier Readiness Execution, utilizing all problem-solving tools as it relates to 8D methodologies.Conduct and Lead Supplier Audits as it relates to pre-sourcing, IATF, VDA, AIAG, and ZF specific audits.Effectively interpret and communicate manufacturing and technical specifications.Requires 40%-70% travel.Essential Skills and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.6+ years of professional experience in Quality, Process Engineering, Project management.Extensive expert knowledge of production methods of Casting Commodity, HPDC components.Strong functional/product knowledge in problem-solving methodology and techniques.Ability to train others.Proven ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, and procedures.Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).Proven creativity and analytical methods (i.e., Six Sigma) with a high level of attention to detail.Deep knowledge of automotive quality core tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), PFMEA and Control Plans, GD&T and MSA.Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel and management.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent English language competency both written and verbal.Excellent presentation skills.Ability and willingness to travel 40%-70%.Preferred Skills and Experience: Master's degree in engineering or technical field (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Production technology) with solid technical background.ASQ CQE.Internal/external Auditor Certification.Experience of problem-solving methodologies.Experience with SAP and Axalant or comparable ERP and engineering change systems.Certification as Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt or comparable improvement methodology.Proficient in other languages (particularly Spanish or German).Project Management Certification (PMO).Lead Auditor IATF/VDA.Large and medium HPDC manufacture process.Be part of our ZF team as Sr. Supplier Development Engineer and apply now!
