Job Description The Tooling Data Specialist (TDS) is focused on assuring Resideo's external tooling information for Plastic Injection, Rubber, Stamping tooling, and mechanical tooling in general, to meet the requirements of the tooling standard and the parts they produce meet the Quality requirements of Resideo by actively contacting external suppliers, collecting data, analyzing data and create plans for maintenance, replacement, etc. The TDS assists the supply base in performance improvement though the use of the technical knowledge, adequate use of process controls, adherence to control plans and systematic problem solving processes. In addition to this, the TDS is tasked to support by sharing and creating better methods to pass information with other engineering or sourcing departments.
JOB DUTIES: Actively contact suppliers to request information about tool conditionInput the information to the Resideo Tooling DataBase in an organized and accurate way.Work with the Database Development Team to improve the Tableau Database ViewerMust be able to assess tool condition based on experience. Suggest methods to repair and estimate necessary time to perform repairs and refurbishment. Coordinate with the suppliers until task is completed.Interact with cross functional teams to achieve tooling milestones such as, scheduled tool refurbishings, and urgent tool repairs. Capable of being proactive, but also proficiently reactive when needed.Continue to expand knowledge to maintain expertise and be an expert for Sourcing, Engineering, and Marketing teams for assigned commodities.Liaison with Commodity Managers, Program Managers, Quality Engineers, Design Engineers - worldwide to identify potential issues based on available Tooling Data.Must continue looking for personal growth and continue working to increase personal technical expertiseSupport department activities such as participate in projects to extend technical capabilities of the Tooling Engineering Group (Develop new capabilities such as Power BI, Power Automate, Sharepoint List, Sharepoint Sites)Create or coordinate the creation of a self-updating tool for external suppliers to access and update tooling information.Actively support Tool Management activities (Request for Information with suppliers and Tooling Database maintenance and re-development).YOU MUST HAVE: BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalentUnderstanding of PPAP process and associated tools (DFM/DFx, PPAP, FMEA's, Control Plan, MSA and Capability Studies).Minimum 1 year of experience in tooling in a Plastic Injection, Stamping, Rubber, Manufacturing Environment. Metal Stamping or Die Casting manufacturing environment experience is desirableMinimum 1 year of experience as a Tooling Engineer is a plusExperienced with the use of problem-solving tools.Experience with mechanical parts and commodities. Familiar with processes and equipment necessary to manufacture parts, including metal stampings, machined parts, and powdered metal parts.Green Belt certification is a plus.Demonstrated capability in identifying best practices and implementing them.Must be willing to work in a results-based, fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision.Will interface regularly with all levels of design personnel within Resideo, Corporate and suppliers globally.Excellent communications skills required. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluentlyGood presentation skills.Active National Passport and ability to travel internationally to USA, Mexico, Europe, China, etc.WE VALUE: Strong understanding and experience with the systems and processes used in the manufacture of plastic, rubber, metal parts and associated processes (plating, painting, etc.)Experience working as a Molding Process EngineerExperience as a design engineer for mechanical components such as plastics and metal sheet or metal stampingExperience with Design Manufacturing Reviews.Certified in Six Sigma Process with Design for Six Sigma.Advance Product Quality Planning training / certification (APQP).Knowledge of Measurement systems analysis.
