The Staff Accountant contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks for the organization.
The following are considered primary areas of focus: · Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts and assisting with preparing financial statements, specifically in these areas: o Responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounts payable including accounts payable staff.
o Performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation.
Assisting with the preparation of journal entries and financial statements.
Recommending process improvements and helping implement when approved by management Monthly closing process including: Compiling an accrual list for the Accounting Manager at each month-end close Keep track of prepaids and make corresponding journal entries Maintain records for fixed assets Bank account recon Confirm legal invoices Petty cash recon Sales tax recon Ensure no PO's are left open at month end and run the IR/GR clearing process. Recon balance.
Ensure there are no G/L COGS differences from prior month · Oversee compliance and reporting for all tax filings including: State sales tax Local tax Federal / State income tax Business Knowledge, Skills, and Desired Attributes · Financial leader with strong knowledge and experience in accounting principles and practices · Strong knowledge and experience in project pricing, costing and financial analysis.
· Strong knowledge and experience in running Finance/Accounting function/department · Ability to ensure strict and absolute compliance with all local, State and Federal government laws and regulations related to wages, insurance, corporate revenues, expenses, profit and taxes.
· A solid background in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, GL, Credit, Collections, Payroll, Budgeting, Financial Statement preparation and analysis is necessary.
· Ability to plan and perform work independently.
· Strong communication skills · Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines, with varying degrees of financial experience Requirements · 5+ years Finance & Accounting experience with a successful track record and advancement, currently in a financial leadership role for a high growth/fast paced company.
