Summary As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you are a seasoned Engineer that identifies assembly optimization opportunities and conceptualizes conversion of manual processes and steps to optimized automated solutions. As an Engineer, you bring hands on experience in machinery design concepts, robotic, PLC and vision programming, safety and global standards. With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to create the requirements and specifications in order to build world-class equipment.
Detailed DescriptionConcept and architect automation stations and assembly linesAnalysis of inputs and the creation of User Requirements in order to determine feasibility of using one or more machines to carry out sequential operations in known process timeMust be capable of designing systems from sketches or verbal conceptsPerform engineering calculations with respect to cycle time, strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designsAnalyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine requirements in the development of equipment to meet process and products specificationsProduce working drawings, models and bills of materials for equipment, in collaboration with SuppliersWork with large global automation integrators to optimize systems from technical information and specificationsAnalyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. CE or customer specific)Communicate all requested design changes to various teamsResponsible for project management and on time, on budget project execution including communicating progress on project tasks to site/regional stakeholdersFormalize and update drawing documentationLiaise with fabricators, machinists, toolmakers and electricians in the completion of equipment and resolving problems. A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques

Physical DemandsDuties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.Occasional travel may be required.Typical ExperienceMinimum 7-10 years in automation design at a machine integrator, or equivalent, designing and concepting machines from small table top to large complex integrated stations.
Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly/electronics manufacturing are an asset.
Knowledge of project management tools and techniques such as; project and resource planning in MS Project and/or smartsheet considered an asset.
Typical EducationEducation
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering / Robotics/ Mechatronics or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CAPM/PMP project management certification is an asset
Fluent in English and Spanish
