Serves as a Unit or Division expert and/or arbitrator for metallurgical and/or chemical issues.- Guides and directs Unit, Division, or Enterprise materials or chemical reliability testing, analysis, and interpretation activities.- Develops and manages the performance of tests and/or evaluation procedures pertaining to new materials/process selection, specifications and testing. May lead process/facility improvement teams.- Serves as an advisor to product engineering on new and emerging materials and processes. Guides in the implementation of new processes at the Unit, Division or Enterprise level. May lead product improvement/Value Analysis (VA) teams.- Evaluates new and advanced materials and processes and sets Unit, Division and Enterprise strategies for their use. May lead improvement teams on processes which effect an entire Division or the Enterprise.- Guides and directs supply management in technical issues. Leads less senior materials engineers in supply management issues. Sets Division and Enterprise technical strategies relating to materials.- Guides and directs Unit, Division or Enterprise management in the forecasting, budgeting and justification of new material processes.
