This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment.Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity.Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statisticalanalysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.May also be responsible for the unit's Performance Excellence (Six-Sigma) project portfolio, assuring the effective use of different improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Lean, DESGN, etc) toward the achievement of division or plant strategic goals.In this role, assist and coach belts and managers in project selection and implementation; and advise division/plant management and leaders on the use of Quality tools, methods and processes.Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.Additional ResponsibilitiesWork on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors
