BASIC FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, this position is responsible for determining appropriated levels of inventory on raw materials, provided by either external suppliers or from other Kohler facilities, as well as coordinating the procurement of non-productive materials, such as spare parts, construction and services following the policies by the Kohler Procurement Manual.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Define appropriated investment in raw materials to support production activities according to annual, monthly and weekly S&O production schedule.
Maintain Raw Materials inventory levels at optimal planned, to optimize investment in these goods considering all key variables involved in manufacturing and logistics activities, always looking for a high inventory turns.
Provide training and assess the planner buyers as needed.
Define strategies for replenishment of material.
Define transportation methods and routs to obtain the most efficient way to carry all materials, in order to minimize cost, transit time, lot size, etc.
Coordinate all activities in Purchasing Department, related to adding new materials and components due to new products, changes on BOM to current products, etc.
to be able to produce and ship as per lead time offered to customers; reduce obsolescence, etc
Coordinate activities related to annual inventory of raw materials as well as all cycle counts, in order to minimize variations between physical and ER system, reduce possibilities of running out of materials, etc
Coordinate activities related to weekly adjust requirements of raw materials, in order to meet customer needs, through the changes on the production schedule; this will maintain a proper level of inventories on a weekly basis in order to face customer's demand.
Look for cost saving opportunities, by either new material, alternative transportation methods, reduce inventory levels, reduced lead time, etc in order to improve financial profits in our finished goods.
Comply with the requirements of all areas in the plant, regarding non-productive materials,
suppliers and services.
11.Supervise generation of purchase orders as per corporate and local purchasing policies
12.Supervise or negotiate agreements or contracts as appropriate.
Drive continuous improvement in the quality of our product or service contracts.
Research current contract and outside sources for "best practice "articles to be incorporated into current and /or future negotiated contract.
Negotiate high value materials and the repetitive purchase in order to have savings.
Constant search for new improvement opportunities, which will translate into efficiency and savings in the non-productive material purchase.

Recommend alternative materials or methods based on knowledge of market availability.
Keep management advised about price increases.
Coordinate a timely resolution of issues arising with suppliers
Perform other related tasks as assigned

EDUCATION:
Bachelor´s degree
EXPERIENCE:
Preference 4 years' experience in manufacturing environment with raw materials purchasing and inventory control.
