Current DEA GS-14 employees may also apply for this position as a noncompetitive eligible.Duties:These Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist (Group Supervisor) positions are located in the following areas:Andean Division, Lima Country Office in Lima, Peru.North & Central America Division, Mexico City Country Office, Intelligence Group 1 in Mexico City, Mexico.Among other duties, the incumbents will:Plan and direct the activities of staff in the collection, evaluation, production and dissemination of drug law enforcement intelligence.Oversee and plan the operations of an intelligence program with worldwide implications.Assess unforeseen developments, new phenomena, and difficulties encountered.Initiate, plan, and evaluate broad and comprehensive research and analysis programs, procedures, and policies.Prepare and present briefings to high-level federal, state, and local law enforcement representatives and to foreign dignitaries regarding difficult, complex, and controversial drug trafficking issues.Perform the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff members.May be required to testify during career as an Intelligence Research Specialist.Foreign Language: Spanish- must achieve a limited working proficiency (Reading 2 Speaking 2)Post Differential: 15%Danger Pay: 15%Cola: 10%Length of Tour: 2 yearsRest & Recuperation: 2Education Availability: K-12*Furnished Post: YesRequirements:Conditions of Employment:Must be able to obtain and maintain a Background and/or Security ClearanceOpen to DEA Employees and CTAP Eligibles ONLYDrug testing designated positionPolygraph RequiredMobility Agreement RequiredSuccessful completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period is required (unless already completed)Successful completion of the mandatory Basic Intelligence Research Specialist Training Course
