BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Supplier Development Engineer at our SLP PDS Plant in Mexico.
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Quality Supervisor, the Supplier Development Engineer will be primarily responsible to ensure that components and products are consistently manufactured in full compliance with specified requirements.
Applies knowledge and a solid understanding of product and process engineering.
It drives the improvement of supplier operations designed to produce reductions in delivery time, inventory, PPM/total cost, manufacturing system and ensure ergonomic workstations.
Provide technical support (Quality and Engineering) to suppliers in the development of their manufacturing systems to produce BorgWarner components.
Key Accountabilities-Definition and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions to reduce rejections from suppliers.
Establishment of PDS SPL programs with suppliers and monitoring of SQA and SQD.
Conduct on-site evaluations and vendor support visits to improve supplier performance and achieve the corporation's objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost and Response.
These activities include potential supplier QVR, design reviews, control plan audits, product audits, troubleshooting activities.
Participation in the approval and verification of local PPAP providers.
Review the design of supplier components to ensure they meet specified tolerances.
On-site verification of GP12.
Management of the supplier development system.
Visit suppliers for PPAP approvals.
Application of quality statistical tools.
Check that the specifications of the components are in accordance with the drawings.
Evaluate supplier machinery and equipment to determine repair and replacement needs.
Development of plans for specification lines and capabilities as required.
BorgWarner Competencies
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related career.
Time of experience in similar position: At least 3 years in a similar position in the automotive industry.
Experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer with extensive experience related to quality.
- Other requirements: Microsoft Office, Quality Systems (IATF) and Environmental (ISO 14001), VDA 6.1 (desirable)
