.Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the performance in terms of quality metrics of the supply base and works at the Global Propulsion Plants as a liaison between the manufacturing plant, SQ&D Team and Suppliers. The role will be accountable for the timely problem solving and containment activities on the floor, support approval of robust and error proofed manufacturing process of GM purchased components based on Build-In Quality System principles (BIQs), ensuring acceptable capability (capability index-Cpk or performance index Ppk according to product specification) and sufficient capacity (demonstrated production rate according to Supplier daily capacity-SDC documented on customer contract) while predicting and preventing failure modes and ensuring defect containment taking as standards the applicable procedures, GM1927 APQP / BIQs and the AIAG related documents. In addition, the SQA should drive and lead the immediate reaction at the suppliers manufacturing site to situational problems associated with quality or capacity non-conformances impacting GM customers pushing for effective containment, true root cause identification, irreversible corrective action and institutionalization of lessons learned. The SQ evaluation of the supplier manufacturing process must result in the continuous improvement at a systemic level (quality system) and therefore facilitate the following metrics are met: No Major Disruptions, reduction of PRRs, Flawless launch, Warranty improvement, Cost Reductions. Work involves functioning as technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers; to resolve quality issues, implement and monitor advanced quality planning and providing technical support. Applies diversified knowledge of quality engineering principles and practices to produce and/or coordinate the solutions to complex problems. Considerable creativity and initiative is required. Independent judgment is normally required with some direction from the supervisor. May exercise some technical direction over others. Progressive experience in lower level positions and/or advance engineering degrees and outside related experience are required. Alignment to GM procedures and requirements.Plan and execute APQP & Current tasks according to the GM1927 SQ Manual and GVDP timing:1. Lead the supplier understanding of product quality requirements. (SQ SORs / part specific SORs, product specifications and applicable standards).2. Participate in technical reviews to ensure only capable suppliers are awarded new business.3. Confirm APQP process is utilized and eliminate or escalate known roadblocks. (APQP Valves & Launch Alerts)4. Review and approve supplier manufacturing processes and quality controls (PPAP / PCPA).5. Ensure Lessons Learned are documented by the supplier in the appropriate FMEA (design, process, system) and ensure the flow chart is linked to the PFMEA and control plan.6
