.Job Summary and Scope:As an industry leader in packaging solutions, Veritiv is looking for a skilled quality leader to join our team in Mexico. You will be responsible for reviewing quality indicators and ensuring quality of materials provided by suppliers. You will leverage your technical skills to interpret customers' packaging requirements, communicate the requirements to suppliers, assess supplier capabilities, and work with suppliers to ensure customers' requirements are met. We are looking for an individual with experience in quality systems and processes, problem solving, and manufacturing processes. You will work cross-functionally with design, sourcing, and sales teams to lead supplier quality management and development from new product introduction to mass production launch.Job Responsibilities:Develop and implement quality metrics to monitor supplier quality performance from new product introduction through commercial launch and assess and validate current and potential supplier capabilities.Identify, select, and manage suppliers to ensure viability and efficiency of designs.Collaborate with Sourcing team to identify and onboard new suppliers and negotiate cost savings.Interpret detailed technical specifications and communicate to suppliers.Work with suppliers to enhance capabilities to meet customers' project requirements.Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with suppliers.Provide alternative solutions to address DFM issues, including design changes and supplier process improvement changes.Perform on-site supplier process and internal quality systems audits, evaluate results based on data, and initiate and review supplier corrective actions for problem resolution.Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and special projects, developing working relationships with suppliers and internal/external supply chain partners.Communicate quality process results to senior leadership, quality team, and other key stakeholders.Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience:Degree in Engineering – Industrial, Mechanical, Packaging.Minimum 5 years experience in the supplier quality engineering field within a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.Strong knowledge of engineering principles applied to the design, manufacture, and testing of packaging, including experience in FEA and DFM principles.Strong understanding of quality processes e.G. ISO 9001, and experience applying to manufacturing processes.Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engineering-based solutions to solve complex problems.Packaging engineering / R&D / manufacturing experience preferred; preferably experience with corrugated, foams, films, wood, molded pulp and/or sustainable materials.Strong technical and problem-solving skills.Data analysis skills.Excellent communication, project management, and organization skills.Flexible, adaptable and able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
