**Opportunity: Material Flow & Supply Chain Engineer**
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Member of the SFO Supply Chain operation organization, this position will be responsible for designing and facilitating the predictable, flexible, and efficient flow of parts and materials through the entire process as well as analyzing the overall Supply Chain operations, conveyance, and intra-logistics strategy to maximize the process efficiency and productivity, development, and sustainment of a plan for every part (PFEP) in Sanimex Faucets Operations (SFO) in Kohler Co. Activities will include strategic and day-to-day support to the Supply Chain operations and Continuous Improvement team. This position will:
TARGETS
1- Design, develop, improve the Supply Chain material flow. Intra-logistics and conveyance processes, layouts, and systems readiness for Kohler Sanimex Faucets Operations.
2- Support day-to-day supply chain operations and quality throughout entire process by using the BOMs, demand requirements and engineering specifications to facilitate the correct time, quantity, quality and delivery of parts needed at each workstation and during each stage of assembly.
3- Optimize Supply Chain operations related to direct labor headcount through CI activities.
4- Ensure deployment of best practices from other Kohler plants regarding material flow, warehouse, kanban's, supermarkets, conveyance and line feeding activities.
5- Develop and maintain PFEP for all components and purchased parts.
6- Analyze, define, design, and optimize routing for every part minimizing delays, disruption and waste.
7- Design, implement, and maintain the material flow within the facility by troubleshooting and preventing material shortages or bottlenecks by determining causes and designing, testing,
validating, and implementing solutions through a Continuous Improvement and Lean approach.
8- Ensure the Kohler Material management System (KMMS) and Product Flow System (KPFS) are correctly implemented to SFO and get the certifications.
9- Work with the plant teams to define the best Material flow and Layouts considering industrial engineering, manufacturing, and quality, ensuring assembly line feeding on time.
10- Ensure that parts delivered by suppliers meet design specifications and quality before entering assembly process, implement procedures or tracking for addressing non-conforming materials/parts.
11- Design supermarket, Kanban's, smart-buffers and other advanced material storage or replenishment solutions for a Lean material storage, put away, picking and kitting process.
13- Support and drive continuous improvement and lean supply chain initiatives.
14- Identify & improve cost/waste reduction opportunities through CI and Lean approach.
15- Define the best internal and purchased components packaging design.
16- Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
17- Design new manufacturing areas, warehouses, layouts, drawings, and material flow models with techniques, tools, and Lean principles.
18- Implement 5S principles and visual management to improve material staging, flow, and delivery practices, including developing adjustments or improvements to storage and inventory facilities, equipment, and processes.
19- Promote and enhance safety and ergonomics of materials department.
20- Plan,
organize and lead the supply chain engineering design and material flow for the development of new products or product changes
**Skills/Requirements**
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years' hand-on Supply Chain Engineering, Material Flow, continuous improvement and PFEP experience.
Expertise in SAP for Logistics and Materials.
Ability to design material routes, supermarket, min-max and other Lean manufacturing materials flow solution.
Ability to conduct end user training.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, material flow and distribution of goods.
