**CANADA BASED POSITION - Applicant must be willing to relocate if not already residing in Ottawa, Canada****The Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) is the world's largest independent research organisation focused on developing methodologies, technologies, and services to monitor and manage the seismic rock mass response to mining. There are over 60 active IMS seismic monitoring systems in Australia, over 25 in North America, and over 200 in the rest of the world. IMS's main office is in Tasmania, Australia with additional offices in Canada and South Africa.**More information about the company is available at imsi.OrgThis role will have added focus on supporting customers in Central and South America so fluent technical communication/translation in/between English and Spanish is essential.**Job tasks and responsibilities**:- Installation, maintenance, and repair of the IMS seismic monitoring system for underground and open-pit mines in America (primarily North)- Technical report writing, pre and post site visit- Training clients on both hardware and software- Writing proposals and preparing quotations for existing and new customers (Tenders)- Hardware repairs and fault finding, modifications, etc., on IMS-manufactured equipment- Assistance with movement and management of stock, and preparation of orders**Other role requirements**:- Willingness to travel locally and overseas, which often requires working on weekends and public holidays- Willingness to work in the mining environment underground, and sometimes at high altitude, in mines around the world**Required skills and experience**:- Fluency in both English and Spanish (read, write, speak)- Ability to translate technical terms and documentation- Engineering education in the fields of either Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or IT (other Technical qualifications will also be considered)- Computer & network hardware fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) to provide excellent customer service- Ability to solve complex technical problems and think critically- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and reliability- Strong time management skills and work ethic; self-motivated and autonomous- Motivation and willingness to work extra hours to meet deadlines**Preferred skills and experience**:- Working engineering experience- Networking and system administration experience- Linux familiarity and experience- Command line computing proficiency- Understanding of electrical theoryApplication Question(s):- This position is based permanently in Ottawa, Canada.
