**TAX STAFF ACCOUNTANT - SHARED SERVICE CENTER**Individuals at this level normally have a college degree with a major in accounting or a business field. These individuals will have zero to three years' experience which may include an internship. The expectations of a Staff Accountant in Tax include:- Become familiar with firm policies and procedures- Understand the rules, regulations and code of professional conduct of the AICPA- Progress professionally by working towards passing the CPA or Chartered Accountant exam- Exhibit (or develop) skills and characteristics delineated in the Firm's Evaluation Forms- Become familiar with pertinent IRC sections and regulations- Obtain a working knowledge of research techniques and the various research sources in the firm library- Become proficient in the preparation of corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns prepared by the firm- Assume responsibility for the completion of tax returns under the supervision of more experienced staff**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**- Prepare individual, corporate and partnership tax returns of varying complexities- Perform services within budgeted time by developing technical, time management and organizational skills- Become knowledgeable about all the computer software used in the tax department- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end estimates- Draft response letter to IRS and state notices when needed- Make adjusting entries and complete a trial balance in order to prepare business returns- Perform accounting/bookkeeping functions when needed- Provide excellent client (core engagement team) service by producing quality work, quick turnaround and attentive service- Create a quality work product by following the firm's processes and procedures- Participate in firm training courses to help develop technical training skills- Develop sound work relationships with administrative personnel, peers, manger to foster team work- Assist managers with special project when needed**REQUIREMENTS**- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting with the 150 hours and must have completed all requirements to be able to sit for the CPA or Chartered Accountant exam.
