Job purpose
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a PE Electrical Design Engineer. The PE Electrical Design Engineer will be primarily responsible for performing the electrical circuit design, component selection, circuit analysis and testing of BorgWarner power electronics products. This position will ensure BorgWarner's power electronics products are properly designed and validated to meet customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements.
Conduct the electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs.
Specify, identify, select, and test of key, critical electrical components.
Create the design and layout of circuit boards, substrates, & electrical interconnects/bus structures.
Develop an optimized electrical, mechanical, and thermal solution utilizing balanced requirements to meet schedule, technical and cost constraints.
Work with the BorgWarner systems engineers and program team to ensure the proper allocation of requirements and to perform the verification of those requirements allocated to the electrical competency.
Support BorgWarner product development team with technical design analysis, trade off studies, FMEAs, design reviews and customer presentations.
Understand the vehicle system components and functions that interface to the power electronics subsystem and support systems Engineering and application engineering to investigate vehicle systems issues.
Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution and verification of power electronics products.
Support best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures.
Document and share best-practices.
What we're looking for
BS Electrical Engineering required.
10 years' experience required in some combination of the following areas or an engineering internship in related field: Automotive electronics product development.
Power Electronics circuits design, specifically motor drive inverters.
Modelling, simulating, and testing of power electronics.
Familiar with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of designing, integrating, and testing of DC to AC inverter motor drives and controls preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Engineering internship experience in a manufacturing/engineering industry preferred.
Understanding of engineering theories related to designated engineering function and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations.
Willingness/ability to travel 5% both domestically and internationally.
