.**Job Summary and Purpose**The English Assistant provides instructional and clerical assistance to the Head of the Academic Department. Checks and records student work; assists in the library,front office, and other areas of the school as needed. Provide support to the Academic Department to achieve the integral development of our students through teamwork, initiative, effective communication, and follow-up to Colegio Americano school procedures.**Essential Job Functions**- Know and promote the philosophy of Colegio Americano.- Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.- Know and promote the Student Guidelines.- Prepare and deliver to the Academic Department the plans of the activities to be carried out with students in the absence of the teacher.- Supervise students during structured classroom times and unstructured times, such as recess, mealtimes, and pickup/drop-off as well as during assemblies, transitions, evacuations, and for short periods during teacher absences.- Assist in the office with attendance, reception, and clerical duties as needed.- Provide playground supervision and ensures safety, order, and fair play rules are observed. Maintain and distribute playground equipment and inspects playground for safety and other concerns.- Keep a record of incidents and activities indicated in the internal forms.- Translate documents and prepare instructional materials as requested.- May work with students requiring individual or close attention.- Implement activities that promote positive discipline strategies.- Manage projects for the academic boost of students.**Required Qualifications**Required qualifications to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.- High school diploma- Career in Education or Psychology- Some experience working with children**Preferred Qualifications**Highly desired education, training, and/or experience that may be helpful in performing the job, if applicable.- At least 1-year experience working with children- Experience working with groups of children and using effective positive discipline methods.- Experience in typing, computers, and word processing.- Experience with Microsoft Office.- Experience with Schoology.**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**- Ability to guide and supervise groups of children.- Ability to manage children's behavior in small and large groups.- Ability to maintain professional demeanor and resilience in response to student words and actions.- Ability to maintain confidential files and information and to compile reports- General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in classroom teaching.- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations.- Able to operate a variety of office equipment, including copier and computer
