Summary of Position:
The role applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for accounting requirements for assigned areas to be completed timely and accurately. This role will also provide oversight to these activities, ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are met as well as provides highly effective and efficient end-to-end processes to Business Function. Schedule may vary and require shift work.
Key Responsibilities:
People Management
- Lead team and provide hands-on support for the teams to provide quality services to the business function to support effective decision-making.
- Manage day-to-day activities
Daily Responsibilities:
- Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual
- Prepare accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews
- Prepare accurate journal entries in a timely manner
- Ongoing process improvements made through the month to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes.
- Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
- Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
- Understand all impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra
- and interdepartmental transactions including manufacturing, inventory and cost accounting, inter-company receivables and payables, cash activity and activity from other functional departments.
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
8+ years of accounting experience - public and industry preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements. Strong analytical skills.
- Efficient in Intercompany accounting process.
- Team handling experience on paper.
- Proficient ERP knowledge (SAP, BI)
- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering
- Experience working within shared services teams preferred
Work hours: 4PM-1PM (Non-month end close days)
5:30 PM - 2:30PM
