**Role Description**
Responsible for sourcing, price negotiations and cost reduction activities for a group materials, tools and spare parts.
Interfaces with other departments like Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure successful execution of the procurement and budget.
**Responsibilities**
- Develops strategic sourcing plans and manages sourcing activities for materials, tools and spare parts.
Performs comparative analysis of competing suppliers in order to recommend the most competitive source for a specified commodity.
- Negotiates and establishes materials, tools and spare parts prices in support of the department's cost reduction goals.
Assists other buyers with complex price negotiations.
- Engages with end users of assigned materials, tools and spare parts (client groups and/or engineers) to establish understanding of the requirements and specifications of materials, tools and spare parts.
- Plans, develops, implements, and maintains cost reduction plans for assigned materials, tools and spare parts.
Tracks and validates cost savings data.
- Establishes, executes, and manages contracts for assigned materials, tools and spare parts; issues and maintains purchase orders, and related purchasing records.
In collaboration with upper management, manages cost changes for assigned commodities.
- Coordinates activities between all departments and supplier base to ensure contract compliance and resolution of all major issues dealing with quality, cost, delivery, and design.
- Supports requests from others for data creation, data confirmation, status updates, and other activities as needed.
- Develops critical work instructions, procedures, and engages in workflow improvement for the team and/or department to maximize efficiency and coordination or purchasing activities.
- As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- 1 - 3 years' of experience as a Technical Buyer.
- Knowledge of purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of business performance measures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong computer skills, including purchasing and inventory management systems, programs and reports
- Ability to exercise judgment
- Knowledge of industry (Pack & Containers) including suppliers, customers, and competitors (add value).
- Lnowledge in SAP.
- Fluent in English.
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
