The Technical Project Manager is a technical professional responsible for effective management of all technical aspects of assigned projects and project teams to successfully complete the project on-time, on-budget and within specifications.
Core Responsibilities:
Overseeing day-to-day activities of a team of development engineers, including resources/manpower allocation, schedules, project budgets, and issues resolution.
Prepare project plans, including schedules and project development budgets
Sustaining activities for small items.
Maintain effective relationships with the development, system test, manufacturing organizations and overall program/solution management team.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in a mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience
5+ Experience New Product development as project manager
3+ Sustaining engineering experience (small items)
Project management experience driving new product development of electronic based products.
Experience leading projects through the full product development life cycle, from concept and customer requirements through commercial launch of the product. Experience should include leadership of products that require electronics, mechanical, and firmware engineering, preferably on high volume, commercial/industrial grade products.
Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating a multi-functional team consisting of design engineering, quality, solution test, and manufacturing team members.
Proficient in all aspects of project management, including development of project budgets, schedules, and communication of status and tasks.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize personal and team activities.
Must be able to drive the team and work through challenges to ensure tasks are clearly assigned and completed per agreed schedules.
Experience interfacing with contract manufacturers and working end to end processes to ensure design for manufacturability and design for test criteria are established and reviewed
Demonstrated ability in determining key design issues and developing appropriate action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives including establishing key design parameters that are Critical To Quality (CTQ) and enforcing proper plans to ensure these CTQs are met over high volume, long life production
Possess the initiative, organizational stamina, attention to detail, and flexibility to drive the team and project to success.
Must be proficient with computer hardware and software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)
Experience with Smartsheet or Microsoft Projects
Strong problem solving and analytical skills are essential
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in English communication in both verbally and written is Required.
Travel requirements 10% to US.
Desired Experience/skills:
Project Management Certification is a plus
Experience developing products for the utility industry, specifically experience developing water and gas meters and battery powered communication products
Experience developing products with radio transceivers
Familiarity with regulatory agency requirements such as ANSI, AWWA, UL, and Intrinsic Safety a plus.
