The Thermal Design Engineer will support lead engineers on selection of HVAC/R components. Creates 3D models, bill of materials (BOMS). Will be expected to perform tasks with coaching and supervision. The Thermal Design Engineer will have initiative to solve problems and participates in design reviews with customers, engineering team members and other internal work teams quickly and effectively. RESPONSIBILITIESSelection of refrigeration and HVAC components (for example, compressors, EEV, heat exchangers and others).Create 3D models and 2D drawings for components using Creo (including, but not limited to Sheet Metal and Copper Piping, is expected to be proficient on sheet metal).Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations (assembly, engineering, materials, quality).Must be capable of troubleshooting equipment and support testing efforts in the lab.Contribute to multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situation arises.Work directly with manufacturers and vendors to fulfill selection of components.QUALIFICATIONSExpertise (3+ years) with HVAC/R products.Experience on HVAC-R components selection.Knowledge on hydraulics and thermodynamics.Proficiency in working with CREO, Solid Edge or equivalent CAD system (3+ years).Desired expertise with pipe modeling and sheet metal.Capable to create accurate product and component drawings (ASME Y14.5).Self-starter.
