Manages employees by interviewing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations of tool room staff.2. Implements and maintains procedures for:A. Mold storage proceduresb. Preventative maintenancec. Preparing molds for configuration changeovers.D. 5S of tool room and mold storage.3. Creates and maintains all tool shop related documentation for molds.4. Coordinates with outside suppliers for repairs, replacement components, and engineering changes.5. Evaluates and arranges resources to meet production demands.6. Manages inventory levels and incoming inspection records of spare or new mold components.7. Supports molding production, engineering and quality on continuous improvement projects.8. Provides support for machining of fixtures, gauges, and replacement components for equipment required by the factory.9. Hands on duties related to mold repair and maintenance.10. Assists Merit's Technical Teams to determine tooling issues and recommends design changes to correct and prevent quality issues.11. Participates in design reviews for new tools.12. Identifies, recommends, and implements lean manufacturing strategies for tool maintenance.13. Carries out essential functions and responsibilities, which are in compliance with ISO 13485.2003, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004.14. Performs other related duties and tasks as required.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS- Lifting - Not to exceed 50 lbs. - local practice may apply.- Writing- Sitting- Standing- Bending- Visual acuity- Color perception- Depth perception- Reading- Field of vision/peripheral- Fine motor skills- Noise- Chemical vapors- Soldering fumesSUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Education and/or experience equivalent to a related Bachelor's Degree.- Five years of plastic mold building and repair experience with three of those years in a supervisory role.- At least 10 years of working experience in a technical position is preferred.- Mastery of machining methods including milling, turning, grinding, EDM, and polishing.- Fundamental knowledge of heat treating, welding, tool steels, and molding principles.- Knowledge and experience with hot manifold function, maintenance, assembly, and cleaning.- Strong organizational skills.- Detail oriented.- Demonstrated ability to determine root cause and creatively solve molding problems and issues
