Maintains job performance systems for operating units at facility/business unit. Conducts annual training needs assessment and develops both short and long term facility training plan.Analyzes performance problems, training requests and skill or knowledge needs of employees. Develops, selects, and recommends courseware, job aids, and performance systems to satisfy needs. To assure improvement in the learning process.Procures and evaluates training material or courses from outside sources including, colleges, universities, technical schools, private institutions or consultants in special skills training.Maintains up-to-date skills and knowledge concerning new materials/methods for performance improvement and instructional technology.Develops long and short range training projects using data collection/analysis, Skills Management System inputs, or other methods to assure improvement in learning processes. Performs cost/benefit studies on training interventions.Coordinates activities of Apprentices and other Formal Trainees. Coordinates and/or conducts first line supervisory training as appropriate. Coordinates various training support systems and activities as required by operating management.The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Typical internal customers include various contacts in a portion of Caterpillar worldwide operations. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems, which may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent is free to determine the best way to complete job assignments in order to achieve desired results
