**SUMMARY**This position is responsible for converting written material from one source language' (English) into the 'target language' (Spanish), ensuring that the translated version conveys the meaning of the original as clearly as possible.The target language is normally the translator's native language but may require a mix of translation, localization and copy writing, where the text is culturally and linguistically adapted to suit the reader.Translator will work on: educational, technical, legal and any other document assigned.**RESPONSIBILITIES**- Translate original material to the target language.- Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.- Using Translation Memory software - such as Dragon Naturally Speaking to ensure consistency of translation within documents and aid efficiency; Using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used.- Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation; Proofreading and editing final translated versions.- Providing grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document.- Establish a working relationship with Subject Matter Experts to discuss any unclear points**REQUIREMENTS**- Level of Formal Education: A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent.- Area of Study: English.- Years of Experience: Two to three years.- Type of Experience: Translation.- Special Certifications or Technical Skills: Practical translation work in retail or automotive environment may be considered in lieu of a language degree.- Other/Preferred: Postgraduate translation certification.
