**Job summary and scope**:
The Transportation Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the transportation operations within an organization or the activities of organizations that provide transportation services.
Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment. Collect and analyze the key cost drivers, market dynamic issues, areas of innovation and alternative suppliers for a medium-risk area with some alternatives to provide solid market information for decision making. Communicate the local and company action goals and strategy and motivate team members to achieve local business goals. Lead and manage large complex warehouse(s), reviewing current procedures and developing new procedures when required to ensure all goods and supplies are stored and recorded appropriately. Manage and recommend improvements to the inventory control program to identify any issues and solve problems. Manage the transportation of goods and supplies for a large busines segment using existing procedures; review and recommend improvements to procedures to ensure on-time delivery of goods and supplies. Perform additional duties as required. Provide coaching and career development opportunities to team members to further develop their skills.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plans and coordinates work activities of delivery team.
- Develops and implements specific objectives and performance measures to improve performance.
- Interprets, understands and acts on individual and collective performance and quality data.
- Leads selection and hiring of new delivery employees; evaluates employee performance; develops and implements action plans for improving all employees.
- Ensures compliance with company and government policies and regulations (e.g., Safety, OSHA, HazMat, Local and Federal transportation Laws, Local and Federal trucks verifications)
- Conduct regular safety meetings; completes and reviews safety incident reports as necessary; recommends changes to assist in maintaining a safe working environment
- Ensures that all delivery employees receive proper training and skills development.
- Monitor compliance with the driver's continuous work hours in accordance with established laws and policies.
- Communicate with Customer Service on delivery issues
- Manage Driver equipment & uniforms
- Provide CX with update info on customers: ex, time windows, address changes
- Monitor SAMSARA system during shift.
- Communicate daily with Routing Center on same day and next day deliveries
- Communicate with Distribution Managers on vehicles, driver issues
- Provide shifts start times for drivers
- Monitor Driver return procedures
- Analyze information from the digital POD capture compliance report to recommend, offer and implement performance improvements.
- Meet perfect order objectives
- Utilize all available business tools to deliver continuous improvement
- Be knowledgeable of safety work practices and performs all duties in a safe manner. Supports business safety committee.
**Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience**:
- A thorough understanding of warehouse, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting, as well as government regulations (e.g., State and Federal Transportation Laws, OSHA, HazMat, etc.), preferably from a large, national or decentralized organization.
- 3+ years of successful supervisory/management experience is required. Ability to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
- PC proficient in Windows based software programs. Familiarity with mid-range and mainframe operational systems is helpful.
- Excellent leadership, customer relations and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to motivate team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Strong planning and organization skills are required.
- Intermediate level of English desirable
