Role Definition
Analyzes and develops transportation plans to control the movement of commodities throughout a manufacturing or distribution network to ensure the smooth running of operations at optimal transportation cost levels.
Responsibilities
• Analyzing transportation plans and identifying opportunities for improvements to meet client needs.
• Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
• Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs, carrier performance and lead times.
• Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and providing solutions to reduce lead times.

• Demonstrates expertise with all major modes of domestic transportation.
• Shares approaches for assessing transportation alternatives and selecting optimum mode.
• Conducts joint planning with carriers to forecast short- and long-term transportation needs.
• Participates in evaluation, selection, monitoring and termination of carriers.
• Works with shippers to plan for and mitigate the transportation capacity crunch.
• Negotiates and monitors rates and service controls with major carriers.
Logistics Management:
• Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
• Works with logistics in a domestic environment.
• Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
• Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
• Participates in integrating logistics processes and developing effective networks.
Supply Chain Management:
• Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
• Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
• Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
• Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
• Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
What is required: Bachelor's degree completed. Minimum of 7-10 years of Logistics and Transportation experience Bilingual English and Spanish (Fluent) Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems 6 Sigma Training Strong analytical skills Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office tools and MRP Systems. Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department. Additional Information Travel required desired per project need.
