**OBJECTIVE**:
The FarmTeam Technician owns every detail that affects the pig from the day it walks off the trailer into the farm until the day it is loaded onto the market trailer.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)**
Overall management of swine farm including, but not limited to:
a. Maximize Feed Intake
i. Feeder management - daily adjustments
ii. Feed ration management
iii. Water - flow and availability
iv. Minimize stress events
b. Ventilation Management
i. Controller knowledge
ii. Air - flow, speed, and exchange
iii. Set temp vs. actual
iv. Environment assessment - laying patterns, humidity, cleanliness
c. Health Management
i. Medication/vaccination schedule execution
ii. Treatment identification
iii. Threshold communication
d. Overall Flow Management
i. Wean-pig management
1. Facility setup and organization
2. Daily husbandry for pigs between 10 - 40 pounds (4.5 - 18kg)
3. Feed management and ordering
ii. Finisher-pig management
1. Daily husbandry for pigs between 40 - 300 pounds (18 - 136kg)
2. Mortality removal using mortality cart/snare of pigs between 40 - 300 pounds (18 - 136kg)
iii. Stocking density/square footage
e. Pig market selection and marketing
f. Sort and load market pigs averaging 285 pounds (130kg)
Light groundskeeping and upkeep around the farm
Barn preparation between groups of pigs
**POSITION SPECIFICATIONS**
**Education**:
Bachelor's of Science degree or equivalent experience
**Experience**:
6 months pig experience preferred but not required
**Work Environment**:
Agricultural swine environment in rural area
Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas loading pigs and small swine care processes
**Physical Requirements**:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Must be able to print and/or write legibly
**Additional Requirements**:
Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday
Must have reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
