Principal Mechanical Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of mechanical components, subsystems and systems for automotive applications with the support of CAD software (CATIA or NX), ensuring alignment with Technical Ladder community, project goals and customer requirements.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, software validation, product development team lead engineers, program managers, chief program engineers to seamlessly integrate mechanical components into overall product designs.
Conduct thorough technical feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate proposed mechanical designs, considering factors such as performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Utilize fundamental CAE simulation tools to perform structural and thermal analyses in CATIA or NX, validating designs and optimizing performance to meet stringent automotive industry standards.
Participate actively in the design validation testing of Visteon products collaborating to stakeholders for proper validation and lead solutions in case of potential problems.
Oversee the prototyping and developmental testing of mechanical systems to validate functionality, reliability, and durability under real-world operating conditions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, fostering their professional growth and development within the organization.
Assure the proper selection of materials and components, with strong collaboration between product development, suppliers, and manufacturing plants ensuring adherence to quality standards and cost targets.
Lead technical design reviews, key participation in DFMEA sessions and customer meetings, providing expertise and insights to enhance the overall quality of our products.
Execute project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical engineering tasks within assigned projects.
Stay abreast of advancements in automotive mechanical engineering technologies and methodologies to integrate them into our design processes to drive innovation.
