- Make sure all required permits and safety PPE are provided.
- Read the applicable welding specification carefully prior to welding activities
- Verify the materials (size, grade, wt. heat # etc.) according to drawing, welding matrix etc.
- Verify the welding equipment with unexpired calibration date, correct consumable types etc.
- Verify the correct WPS and joint geometry.
- Verify the welder qualification is valid.
- Check all the requirements listed under production welding of the welding specification are met.
- Document welding parameters during production welding at the sample frequency required and verify the parameters are within WPS ranges.
- Visual inspection of the completed weld.
- Verify NDE technician qualification and witness NDE activities.
- Repair welding if needed after request approval and detailed documentation.
- Report deviation/variance.
- Prepare welding quality records/forms/redlines.
