**_ Application Development Specialist_**

**Primary Purpose of the Position**:
- The Application Development Specialist will be responsible for performing programming assignments that require knowledge of established Information Technology procedures.
- The Application Developer will be expected to understand data relationships (i.e. relational data versus hierarchical data) and should be able to interpret basic system concepts using current documentation standards and methodologies (i.e. flow charts, data flow diagrams, etc.).
**Principle Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Maintain and modify programs, processes and configuration detail according to current Information Technology standards and guidelines. Follow recommended change procedure and documentation practices for all work.
- Complete unit testing of all work processes.
- Troubleshoot. Analyze problems, determine best course of action, and develop solutions to problems based upon facts, data and logical assumptions. Perform tasks necessary to ensure data integrity and system stability.
- Develop new programs, processes and configuration from provided specifications.
- Configure and implement 3rd party software packages where mínimal customization, enhancement and testing will be required for integration into existing infrastructure.
- Evaluate simple interrelationships within immediate area of responsibility, e.g. whether a contemplated change in one part of a simple program will cause unwanted results in a related part.
**Education**:
- 4-Year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related discipline is required.
**Experience**:
**Knowledge & Skills**:
- MS Office product suite.
- Current information technologies (programming languages) needed to support a specific business process.
- Good understanding of business process area supported.
- Organizational, communication and time management skills.
- Participate as an active team member, practice effective listening skills and effective collaboration skills.
- Achieve all information technology objectives through use of approved standards, guidelines and recommendations.
- This position interacts with higher-level Application Development associates and supervision.
- Work collaboratively with internal business user community through troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution.
- Associates may have involvement with 3rd party software vendors to complete a software configuration work.
