**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**:
The Manager Non-Freight will lead a professional invoicing and receivables Team, overseeing timely non-freight assessments and collections; ensuring accurate financial reporting through budget, forecast, and variance analysis processes; adhering to SOX and internal controls; driving strategic objectives and continuous improvement initiatives; all while coaching and developing the next CPKC leaders.
**POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Leads development and execution of strategic objectives
- Creates and executes on industry-leading standards for timely, accurate and complete invoicing
- Produces and analyzes monthly financial forecast for Engineering billable work recoveries
- Reviews/produces monthly financial accruals for billable recoveries not yet invoiced
- Monthly account reconciliation and review of various billing suspense accounts (Blackline)
- Accountable for the invoicing and collection activities and metrics of billable projects / non-freight revenue through direct interaction with various government and external agencies
- Assists with questions that arise out of governmental project audits
- Oversees the billing to third parties annually for joint facility contracts and related collection.
- Identifies process improvement opportunities, proposes and implements solutions and gains consensus from key stakeholders.
- Prepares various internal management reports and assists in various research projects related to accounting issues.
- Works cross-functionally and externally to resolve outstanding, unresolved non-freight invoicing and receivables
- Leads a team of non-unionized and unionized staff, leveraging CPKC's Consequence Leadership model to develop future leaders
- Provides timely and constructive coaching and feedback to staff; develops staff and provides challenging opportunities.

- Leads and executes on technology enhancements and changes
- Proactively engages upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure streamlined end-to-end processes
- Strict adherence to SOX and Internal Controls
- Protect CPKC financial integrity and accuracy
**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
- Post-secondary in finance or business related discipline
- CPA designation or working toward one considered an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience and solid understanding of financials
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and drill down to root cause
- Strong Financial and Business acumen
- Advanced MS Excel
