Summary:This role is an essential function in supporting Carestream Health's strategic procurement initiatives and is an integral part of our purchasing organization.
The Commodity Specialist delivers value across assigned commodity categories by perform sourcing, negotiation & contract activities.
The Commodity Specialist will partner with internal clients to analyze & rationalize technology and professional service deals.
This Commodity Specialist position will provide commodity management service to the Latin America Region and direct materials support to our Guadalajara factory with additional USA assignments as needed.Position Responsibilities:Strategic Sourcing: Utilizes functional knowledge of Strategic Sourcing, Commodity & Category Management, Supply Chain Management, Procurement Market Analysis, Commercial Terms & Conditions, and OEM Manufacturing.
Aligns with internal clients, generates & evaluates Request For Information (RFI), Request For Quotation (RFQ), Request For Proposal (RFP), Statement Of Work (SOW), and other.
Negotiates pricing & terms, writes confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, consignment agreements, termination letters, and other contract documents for assigned commodity categories.
Defines and establishes the strategic sourcing process (including all phases of marketplace or benchmark analysis, understanding index & feedstock pricing, E-auction, bundling, and supplier identification.
Works with internal clients to drive electronic auctions where possible.
Negotiates and manages payment terms to the corporate net 60-day standard, ensure suppliers are paid timely, and intervene to resolve payment delays promptly.
Manages domestic & international suppliers and supply chains.
Understand the global logistics markets to better enable the efficient & cost-effective movement of purchased or produced items across the globe.
Client & Vendor Relationships: Works effectively with both internal clients and external supplier personnel, at all levels, including senior management.
Translates client objectives and requirements into actionable sourcing plans, integrating them into purchasing strategies.
Builds strong supplier relationships, manages supplier assessment, implements & monitors ongoing supplier key performance indicators (KPIs) & supplier scorecards.
Drives ongoing cost reductions & continuous improvements.
Documents and manages supplier spend, supplier cost, delivery & quality targets using established commodity strategies.
Tracks and reports spend, savings productivity, and achievements on a monthly / annual basis.
Reports supply issues timely and escalates as needed.
For hardware & logistics related commodities, establishes Business Resumption Plans (BRP) with key suppliers.
The BRP will serve as the collective agreement on how the supplier would provide noninterrupted services to CSH.
Analytical: Identification & evaluation of suppliers to include but not limited to capabilities, financial stability, reputation, compliance to regulations, and cost, quality, delivery & risk track record.
Plans, organizes, and analyzes data to enable decision making or to build recommendations on sourcing strategies with implications for vendor selection, including Total Cost of Ownership analysis.
Analyzes and solves problems important to the success of the organization or company.
Required Skills & Education: B.S.
in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Finance or related field.
Minimum 5 years procurement, sourcing, or commodity management experience.
Knowledge & experience in the "Indirect" commodity categories including but not limited to: Marketing, Benefits, Logistics, Warehousing & Transportation, Professional Services, Travel, Fleet, Contract Labor, IT/IS/Telecom, Other Equipment Manufacturing (OEM), Capital, Non-capital Services, and Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO), Real Estate, and direct materials packaging procurement.
Must be bi-lingual English & Spanish.
Travel as required.
Must have the ability to obtain a Passport.
Willingness and the experience to travel, both domestically and internationally.
Effective computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
SAP/Ariba preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
Sensitivity to different cultures and global country practices.
Business & financial acumen, ability to function as business partner through teaming, with the ability to motivate, influence and drive change in a collaborative and effective way.
Desired Skills: Experience in a medical device manufacturing environment (or similar highly regulated industry).
Familiarity with Federal Drug Administration (FDA) Supplier Controls a plus.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 a plus.
Six-sigma (green, brown, or black belt), or equivalent a plus.
Professional purchasing or supply chain certifications a plus.
Eventually able to travel.
