This position focuses on product design for LED Drivers from concept to production, including new product development, sustaining efforts, and resolving field issues. It involves supporting various design and development projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Design tasks vary from new developments to product enhancements and cost reduction activities, including product definition and parts selection.Initiates and develops concepts for new products based on Project Charters provided by the Product Manager.Ensures concepts align with standard manufacturing methods used in the appropriate manufacturing facility.Actively participates in, or occasionally leads, team meetings using the product delivery system (APQP) for major products.Mentoring: Provides guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to less experienced colleagues to help them develop skills and advance their careers.Develops and distributes engineering data, including Schematics, Layouts, and Quality Reports.Reviews competitor samples and documentation to create benchmark reports.Seeks advancements or changes in technology through tradeshows, vendors, or other methods.Continuously seeks process improvements in productivity, quality, and manufacturing.Supports Better, Smarter, Faster & Lean Transformation efforts as an AoP team participant and assists with post-AoP activity/assignments as needed.Skills and Minimum Experience RequiredHigh knowledge and experience on power electronics circuits as Boost, Buck, Flyback, LLC, LCC, and resonant converters, linear regulators, transient protection circuits, EMI filter design, electronic component selection, lifetime calculation for electronic SMPS.Microcontroller programming skills and experience: Cortex M0 microcontrollers (32-bit), 8-bit microcontrollers, C/C++, and assembler knowledge, communication protocols (desirable).Has the ability to communicate verbally, in written form, through sketches and engineering drawings.Proficient use of electrical simulation environments (Pspice / LTSpice).PCB design layout knowledge and manufacturing rules (Altium is a plus).Equipment knowledge: Oscilloscope, power analyzer, AC/DC power supplies, multimeter, electronic loads.Proficient in LEAN & Six Sigma methodology and practices such as standard work, time study, cause & effect, 5WHY analysis, and other tools of DMAIC.APQP knowledge, project management experience, management by objectives, decision-making based on risk analysis.Works well in cross-functional team environments.Leadership to influence and enlist the cooperation of other team members to work towards the goal of completing and implementing new product development on time and within budget.Knowledge of UL certification (8750, 1310) and UL testing processes applicable to LED drivers and lighting is very helpful.Understands and adheres to the appropriate established industry and safety standards (ANSI).
