Wondery is seeking a Head of International Content to support the creative endeavors of original podcast content production for Wondery. You will report to Wondery's Chief Content Officer in the US and work closely with Wondery's Head of International to support the execution of the content strategy globally. You will oversee the country-level podcast content development and production leads globally, specifically in UK, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil, with the possibility to expand into new territories. You will oversee the local leaders to help guide their slates of local original podcasts, as well as select localizations of Wondery shows from other territories, with the goal of driving overall global podcast listening growth.
To succeed in this role, you should have a proven ability to guide a successful multi-year slate of content that is both commercially and creatively successful across multiple global markets. You should be a confident and creative leader experienced in overseeing a full development and production slate, organized, with experience in narrative structure and storytelling. Audio or podcast production experience is ideal, but not necessary. We'll consider other types of development and production experience in media such as film or television, so long as you are a heavy podcast listener with a developed understanding of the medium of spoken word audio with a curiosity to learn or have shown creative and commercial success across multiple types of media. You should be engaged and curious about the world, and who knows what it takes to create premium content that is entertaining and compelling.
Key job responsibilitiesDeliver against the global programming strategy to develop, produce and launch shows that drive listening, recognition, and revenue.Set production timelines with local content leaders to execute against the region/country-specific programming strategy.Manage the leaders in each region/country-specific content development and production teams, currently in UK, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil, but with the possibility to expand to more regions.Liaise with commercial counterparts within Wondery and Amazon.Build and leverage extensive relationships with successful podcast creators and third-party producers in all key markets.Have the ability to give creative and business guidance on new and existing content slate. BASIC QUALIFICATIONSIn depth experience in audio storytelling, film/television/documentary development and production.Experience working on global content.Demonstrates ability to lead large global teams and facilitate group meetings.Bachelors or equivalent experience.An avid podcast listener who is passionate about audio storytelling.Demonstrates an interest in global podcast listening and media trends.Strong organizational and project management skills.Enthusiasm for Wondery's storytelling approach. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBA, MFA or equivalent Masters.Experience leading large content and production teams.Have extensive relationships with successful podcast creators and third-party producers.Experience with regional podcast listening and global media trends.Additional languages are highly valued but are not required.Previous experience working in a fast-paced agile environment or relevant training. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $276,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
