The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Mainframe Systems Engineer to join our Mainframe Engineering team. In this role, you will focus on the automation and optimization of our mainframe platform, leveraging your expertise in z/OS systems programming, infrastructure management, and cybersecurity protocols. As a lead, you will design and implement automation strategies, manage a large and complex mainframe environment, and ensure the seamless operation and reliability of our systems. What You'll ContributeDesign and implement automation strategies and programs for infrastructure-centric projects across the enterprise, with a focus on mainframe capabilities. Drive the organization towards an "Automation First" mindset.Manage our Sysplex and multi-LPAR environment, including tasks such as z/OS maintenance, z/OS upgrades, and applying IBM and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) software.Lead mainframe systems programming tasks, including installing, testing, and deploying software. Provide guidance to the team on best practices for system maintenance and security compliance.Analyze and resolve system issues, perform disaster recovery activities, and provide 24x7 on-call support as required. Manage technical roadmaps, upgrade forecasting, and collaborate with vendors for ongoing support.Mentor software engineers, coach teams on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI-CD) practices, and automate manual release activities.Monitor mainframe performance, optimize batch processing, and troubleshoot operational and performance issues using various tools and technologies. What We're SeekingAssociate's degree or higher in Information Technology, Math, or a related field, with proven years of experience working with operating system hardware and software components in a large IT environment, OR years of related experience in lieu of a degree.Experience in mainframe development, with strong knowledge of COBOL, DB2, and CICS.Experience with z/OS, TSO, zSeries mainframe operating systems, and storage systems.Proficiency in JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe utilities.Experience with Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices.Advanced knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and Unix System Services (USS).Strong understanding of mainframe architecture, batch processing, online transaction processing, and system utilities.REXX programming experience.SMP/E experience.Experience supporting IBM, or other mainframe vendor software products.Advanced understanding of IBM SA, JES2, CICS, DB2, MQ Series, and mainframe security protocols (RACF, USS Security, Db2 Internal Security, CICS/MQ Security).Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.G., Omegamon/Tivoli, IBM NetView)
