.Measurements EngineerScope of Position:This group develops and integrates the Measurement and Inspection systems that enable Global Manufacturing to characterize and verify compliance of products manufactured and sold to our customers.The position requires knowledge in metrology, molding and/or fiber optics manufacturing processes to provide technical leadership and support to engineering groups in Connectivity automation and/or Molding operations.Metrology technical liaison with other business units and Corning's Research and Engineering divisions.Needs strong technical curiosity across many technologies, and the ability to learn and desire to work with others for the progress of the business. As part of a global team, this position provides measurement solutions to Corning's Optical Connectivity business to deliver best in class products to our customers.Day to Day Responsibilities:Work closely with experienced professionals across a variety of functional groups (manufacturing, division, etc.) to define, develop and implement measurement methods, inspection systems and establish timing requirements and expectations for measurement requests andcommunicating any/all notifications to the affected parties.Advise and support the metrology operations within the manufacturing facilityto ensure efficient and reliable manufacturing operations for current or new systems and products, advice on equipment maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repair, identify root cause of failures and implement corrective actions.Ensure that the Plant metrology team has the right resource to perform the functions, andthat work is completed in accordance with approved standard operations and current Good manufacturing PracticesTrain Plant metrology, engineering, maintenance and operation associates on use and maintenance of measurement systems.Setupand execute measurements, perform post:Processing of data, and deliver reports and analysis to customers.Design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement measurement integrity and efficiency improvements to measurement systems for fiber optical assemblies, prototype and volume manufacturing.Transfer measurement technology from other location/region or in early stage development to a system ready for use in a manufacturing environment.Develop and manage documentation in support of measurement system deployments including machine specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages.Leverage external suppliers with key technologies or systems integration expertise to develop, procure, build, and install test equipment for capacity expansion needs.Lead or participate in projects for cost reduction, process improvements to address measurement cycle time reduction, measurement uncertainty (improving quality and yield issues) or equipment cost/availability.Responsible of management of operations in Division Metrology installations and equipment
