In addition, will drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability to maximize performance of database environments. Partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and SLO.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The primary focus will be on production support for database environments working with 24X7 support staff.Database administration (Installation, configuration and management, patching and upgrade of the database environments).Perform Database backup and recovery.Perform Database refresh.Database/SQL Monitoring and Performance Tuning.Using database expertise and leadership experience to identify and drive improvement efforts related to our database portfolio.Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Performing problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis, and outlining resolution options.Providing off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.Automate Infrastructure components leveraging understanding of scripting, coding and automation using one or more of the following: PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM or others.Maintains technical knowledge on current and emerging Multi-Cloud developments, industry trends, assesses the opportunity, and collaborates with stakeholders to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies.Work with the third-party support team (on-shore and off-shore) and application support teams to educate and guide them for steady-state supporting database infrastructure related technologies.Promotes and self-demonstrates Corning's principles of Performance, Leadership, Innovation, Independence, the Individual, Quality, and Integrity.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.WORK EXPERIENCE2-5 years working in IT as Oracle Database Administrator.REQUIRED SKILLSPlayed pivotal roles as Database Administrator and support staff across various database technologies.Database/SQL Monitoring and Performance Tuning.Experience with Linux and Windows OS.Should have experience of working in Manufacturing Industry (or similar) to understand the data security requirements like ITAR/PCI/PHI/HIPPA/NIST/SOX etc
