**My Role**:- Support vehicle integration and concept development with OEM teams to integrate active safety sensors including radars, cameras, electronic modules- Work closely with suppliers to confirm manufacturing feasibility and optimize designs for mass production- Develop designs for steel stampings, injection molded components, and diecast housings.
Work closely with suppliers to develop tooling and support prototype builds with OEM plants- Provide expert feedback and review of peer designs, including support of troubleshooting and problem solving activities during development cycle- Project Reviews- Ensure Project Schedules allow for successful engineering execution- Ensure that all ME process deliverables are met per the Project Schedule and are error free; Communicate PDP programcritical items to EGMs, Tech Manager, & Program Manager.- Ensure product and hardware designs are compliant with applicable design standards & Bill of Design- Ensure completion of all tasks on PDP Design Review Checklists prior to reviews- Ensure completeness of Mechanical Analysis, EMC Compliance and Design Verification activities- Escalate design execution issues, as needed- Comply conformance to the Aptiv Advanced Safety and User Experience Mechanical Design Process, procedures and policies- Contribute to improvements in the process and tools- Participate in peer reviews within and outside your product line- Document and share lessons learned with organization; Utilize the Aptiv Problem Solving process for problem resolution- Support Product Lines and Hardware Engineering initiatives, meetings, and reviews**My Background**:- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering- 10+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer with an OEM or Automotive Supplier- 10+ years of experience in automotive and heavy duty equipment product design and manufacturing- Experience working directly with OEM(s) and suppliers to develop products and implement at prototype and production stages of a project- Demonstrates high level proficiency of Mechanical Fundamentals (Thermal/ Static & Dynamic Forces/Vibration/Materials)- Expertise with diecast and plastics component design- Expertise with Electronic Power module thermal managed products and electronic sealed enclosures- Demonstrates high level proficiency in RF/Radar, Vision designs & hands-on FEA modal analysis- Knowledgeable of Rapid Prototyping & Production tooling techniques, design tolerances and GD&T (certification a plus)- Proficient with CAD (Component Modeling, ASM Management and DRWG creation)- Strong Modeling capabilities in UNIGRAPHICS NX7.5 (or CATIA) / TEAMCENTER- High level proficiency with 1st Order Analysis and Simulation Tools (Design Space V.12)- Understand and can evaluate 2nd Order Analysis & Simulation results of accuracy and completeness- Experience with Change Management Systems- Proficiency with MS Office programs- Six Sigma Certification a plus
