.Your RoleAs Technical Director, you will provide leadership and guidance to our studio members, including less experienced team members when necessary. You should be passionate about all stages of the design process, from initial design concepts to technical detailing, construction documentation, and site inspection. With your technical expertise and excellent communication and relationship-building skills, you will be able to understand and interpret client needs and requirements. You will have a good understanding of the end-to-end design process, from marketing to construction completion, and will possess demonstrable international experience working on various projects.A self-motivated team player with a positive, communicative and collaborative approach, you will work in partnership with colleagues across Gensler, as well as with clients, vendors, consultants and stakeholders at all levels. You will have the knowledge and ability to provide guidance to less experienced members of the Interiors team, advising and supporting where necessary.What You Will DoEnhance design through strong technical support.Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges to the team members.Overview and coordinate all project technical aspects, including full documentation coordination with required consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, civil, acoustic, life safety, etc).Support communication between the project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.Oversee the project manual and specifications.Lead, mentor, and coach the team members in collaboration with the Studio Directors and Design Directors.Lead the design team towards a cohesive and rational technical solution that best meets the client's brief, conforms to the project brief, and is technically, legally, and financially responsible.Lead the team in detailed technical development of the design to intend and process and follow through.Provide active technical development of the design and technical input during the preparation and execution of construction documents.Accountable for informing the technical team of current building legislation, code requirements, regulations, and the Quality Management System.Provide Project Risk Management by identifying, evaluating, and preventing or mitigating project risks, errors, and omissions.Assist in developing and maintaining office documentation standards.Leverage our Design Technology ecosystem to deliver design excellence.Understand technical criteria to ensure compliance with resilience metrics and certification.Incorporate technical specifications aligned with environmental performance criteria.Your QualificationsBachelor's or master's degree in architecture.5+ years of project experience in an architectural practice.Strong design sensibility to enhance design through the technical process
