In the wider area of QA/QC, the duties of the Quality Control Coordinator focus on ensuring quality control of incoming and produced goods in accordance with all internal and external quality standards, before any final product reaches the relevant markets Nutreco serves.
To this end, the Quality Control Coordinator controls the quality of all factors involved in the production process, throughout all stages. This includes pre-process stages (control of incoming raw materials and ingredients), in-process stages (adherence to standard operating procedures, as well as in-process testing of half products) up to and including the final stages of finalized products before they go to market.
Controls may include product inspection, where every product is examined visually, sampled and tested, often by using specific tools to determine deviations before the product enters into the process, moves to the next stage in the production process or is released to the external market.
Quality management is focused not only on product/service quality, but also on the means to achieve it. Quality management therefore uses quality assurance and quality control of both processes and products to achieve a more consistent quality.
The Quality Control Coordinator executes an entity's inspection and testing programs (in line with the Standard Operating Procedures) which are designed to prevent defects and/or improve performance. Quality Control builds the bridge between the quality standards and the final products.
The focus of the role (and of Quality Control as a whole) therefore is more product oriented, checking, testing and inspecting throughout the entire process and identifying any defects and defaults, verifying the proper execution of procedures and processes, in order to assure that the products meet the required quality levels at all times. Because of the closeness to the core processes, the Quality Control Coordinator supports optimization and continuous improvement processes, by identifying and suggesting improvements.
Duties may also include assistance with internal and external audits.
The Quality Control Coordinator will mostly work in the QC department of an OpCo, or be part of the Operations function.
